Catalog planning, product
maintenance and release process
A web-to-publish system usually has to deal with catalogues in a slightly different way than with ordinary print products such as business cards. In addition to the actual design of a catalogue, catalogue planning, product maintenance and also the approval process in catalogue production play a decisive role.
The special extension of the HTML5 editor with a product selection allows products to be placed on the catalogue template via drag & drop. By specifying product templates, you can then decide on the product which layout should be used for the view.
The following video demonstrates the product selection via drag & drop and the subsequent layout changes using product templates in printformer.
Interaction with other media asset management systems
In order for printformer to provide products within the HTML5 editor, it must be possible to manage them in a central location. This is where the powerful module PIM comes into play, which enables the central data storage of different files and products. Here you can easily maintain your products and decide independently which information should be assigned to the respective product with the help of attributes.
In many cases, catalog production takes place in different steps and also requires approval or authorization from different instances. With the powerful Workflow module, multiple users can be integrated into a workflow for approval or correction. For example, a franchiser could check all action flyers created by his franchisees for incorrect product placement or input errors before printing.
With the rights management included in printformer Suite, products can only be assigned to specific users. This would allow a franchisor to decide which store may use which products in a promotion flyer.
